I graduated from UC Davis as a Genetics and Design major and spent my first career as a Graphic Designer working for such clients as Wells Fargo Bank, Mervyns, Raleys, Indy Mac Bank, Rides for Bay Area Commuters, and SMUD.
For the last ten years I have been mainly a mom - fitting in my art when I could - and because I needed to. My art is greatly influenced by the fact that I am a mom - as you can see - in my third gallery called Watching Over You. This series shows how, as a mom, you are always watching, guiding, and protecting, a lot of times from a distance or from behind.
My most recent gallery of work, Gallery 1, is a series of still-lifes with fruits and vegetables. In these still-lifes, I have been studying the combination of light, shadow, shape and color. I am very inspired by the use of intense light on beautifully colored and shaped produce, and by the shadows that are projected as a result of this intense light.
The second gallery of work on this site is of landscapes and still-lifes that were created from my surroundings. When you are home with your kids, what you have time to create has to be close to you. We are lucky to live in a beautiful area that is full of trails and a parkway. Most of the landscapes and nature paintings were created from these surroundings.
As a mom, I will always be influenced and strengthened by my family and by what surrounds our small world. As an artist, I have to and will always create more art. I hope you enjoy this peak into my world as a mom and artist and can relate to what you see.
